Introduction to Shantou University School of Medicine

Shantou University School of Medicine is located in Shantou City, Guangdong Province. It is a second level college of Shantou University and one of the first universities under the Ministry of Education's Excellent Doctor Education and Training Program. It is also the first medical university in Guangdong Province to integrate 5+3 clinical medicine majors (undergraduate and master's programs) and a high-level key discipline construction project university in Guangdong Province. The predecessor of the college can be traced back to the Chaozhou Obstetrics and Gynecology Training Institute established in 1924. After several renaming, restructuring, and upgrading, it was approved by the State Council in September 1983 and merged into Shantou University, upgrading to Shantou University School of Medicine. The Medical College, as a major contributor, has helped Shantou University's five disciplines, including biology and biochemistry, environmental science and ecology, botany and zoology, molecular biology and genetics, pharmacology and toxicology, to enter the top 1% of ESI globally.

On October 26, 2023, Guangzhou Bio-key Biotechnology Co., Ltd. and Leica Microsystems (Shanghai) Trading Co., Ltd. jointly hosted the Shantou University School of Medicine Leica Biological System Pathology New Technology Exchange Conference. During the training session, Dr. Wang Yongbin, a senior product expert at Leica Biosystems, presented and discussed the latest achievements of multi-color fluorescence staining technology in related fields with the theme of "Application of multi-color fluorescence staining schemes in biomedical research".

Dr. Wang Yongbin provided comprehensive and detailed introductions on sample processing methods, technological iteration updates, application cases, standard interpretation, and other aspects, enabling users to have a deeper understanding of the application of multi-color fluorescence technology. In addition, we also had in-depth discussions with teachers from the School of Medicine of Shantou University on common problems and solutions in the process from routine pathology to multi-color fluorescence staining experiments, as well as the future development direction of multi-color fluorescence staining schemes in the field of life sciences.

Leica Biosystems has always pursued a focus on the forefront of life sciences. This exchange conference provides a platform for users to exchange and share ideas. During the training, wonderful speeches and discussions were held on the theme of "Multicolor Fluorescence Staining Scheme", which effectively promoted the innovation and development of immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence technology. This has enabled users to have a deeper understanding of multi-color fluorescence technology, and we believe that more practical problems will be solved in future scientific research.
