Global leading scientists are measuring cell viability. This Friday, we will interpret numerous research findings in Chinese for you

Date:2023-03-22

Cellular immunotherapy is an emerging treatment method that utilizes specific cells in the human immune system, such as T cells or natural killer cells, to attack abnormal cells in cancer or other diseases. This treatment method involves extracting and modifying the patient's immune cells to recognize and kill cancer cells, and then re injecting these cells into the patient's body.

After years of research and development, cell immunotherapy products have shown good therapeutic effects in some disease treatments and have been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). But more than 20 years have passed, and there are still many problems that limit the clinical application of cell immunotherapy products, such as severe cytokine storms, off target effects, immune escape, and tumor recurrence.

Therefore, the industry needs new parameters to comprehensively understand the CAR (Chimeric Antigen Receptor) structure we have designed in order to achieve the best in vivo therapeutic effect.

More and more scientists are turning their attention to cell affinity, also known as intercellular affinity. This is a parameter that is closer to the efficacy of immunotherapy than intermolecular affinity, and it is also simpler and faster to measure than cell killing and animal experiments. World renowned leading scientists have published and practiced many results, such as:

-Professor Marcela Maus from Harvard Medical School discovered the reason why solid tumors can resist CAR-T cell killing by evaluating the cell viability of solid tumor cells and CAR-T cells.

-Professor Maus's research group also used the same measurement to design the structure of CAR to enhance the immune cell's ability to clear tumors.

-Professor Ling Arnold Ju from the University of Sydney has developed a method to evaluate the metastatic ability of tumor cells by measuring the strength of the interaction between tumor cells and the extracellular matrix.

LUMICKS has been sharing these cutting-edge research developments and lectures. This week, our application expert, Dr. Wang Kui, will explain to you in Chinese:

-Why cell viability is a better parameter for measuring cell therapy
-What is its measurement principle
-An in-depth interpretation of the aforementioned studies
